Column of Trajan

The Column of Trajan is a 100 foot column pictorial narrative of the Dacian campaigns. This pieces really took my breath away. To see how much detail went into this giant column is un heard of that is why I chose to show two pictures. The first thing that came to my mind was how long it must have took to plan and complete this piece! Now a days no one would take the time to even attempt this! We are too impatient now with all of our technology and whats sad is that even if someone did do something like this i don't think it would even get the praise it should recieve! Just from reading the short writing about it i really want to look up the really stories to so i can relate them to the pictures. Just an amazing piece.

Money!

Does that little coin look like something we all know and love? Of course it does that is money just like the coins we use here in United States as money. I thought it was really cool to see this old form of money. I really love to see different forms of money and even more i love to see really old pieces of money. This just goes to show how much history influences the present. People have been using coin money since the beginning of civilized society! And amazingly it really has not changed. Both coins use a historical figure for there respected counties in a side view, Both made of a metal and both a circular shape. It would be cool to had that piece to my coin collection. =)

Week 4 blog

The Stele of Narmisin was by far my favorite piece of art work. I loved the drama it posses with the war that was won. I think the kings god like figure does a great job of representing his importance. If he wasn't so much larger than the other i really don't think this piece would be as interesting. The first thing I could think about when I seen this and understood why he was much bigger than the rest was a winner podium we use today to show 1st 2nd and 3rd place in a sporting event. The first place winner will always be standing above everyone else to make them look bigger and more domaniant than the others. I also loved how proud the figures looked in this piece and the amount of detail is amazing! I would trully love to see this in person.

Week 3 Blog

Mesopotamian Cylinder Seals I thought where really cool I liked all art work it formed when pressed on the pallets the people of that time used. When i first learned that they were used to identify a person or to reassure you understand a contract , I related it to our signatures we use here in America. We always use a signature to confirm something like signing for packages or receipt slips to confirm you know what your being charged for. It really amazing that they thought of this idea so long ago. I really enjoyed looking at all the original seals. They are more enjoyable to look at then our plan ole' signatures! =)

The Lion-Human figure from Hohlenstein-Stadel struck me the most. Probably be cause I love animals and I love fantasy art. I think the piece really showed how important animals are to humans and how we see animals. I think this figure represented a god of some sort or a powerful person of the tribe since a lion represents power and pride (King of the jungle). I related the figure to this picture of Lebron James. LeBron's nick name in the NBA is "The King" he is considered by many as the best basketball player of this generation. He is represented almost all the time by a lion to symbolise his domiance on the basketball court just as this figure may have been a dominate figure of his/her time.

This is a Digital painting by Kerem Beyit called sir wooden sword. I love digital painting the realizim you can achieve in my opinion is un-matched! This piece is one of my favorites. Quite often people forget how powerful an imagination can be and in this piece it reminds you of when your imagination was at its strongest as a child.

I am a christian, and I love jesus. I was not always completely religious until recently. By following my religion It has changed my life and how I view things. I once was a very sad person much because I was very ungrateful (at the time I would have never know i was so ungrateful) I always wanted more and was just unhappy with what I have. Jesus as made me realize that I don't need any material things to be happy because everyday I am blessed with the gift of life and love of my family. I have relized that the american culture as really blinded us from true happiness making people think that if we don't have money and material things we will not be happy.

This is a picture showing how bad teenagers are and in my eyes they are only getting worse as the years go bye. I believe much of this has to do with young parents and american culture like music etc. At the moment i am in the process to becoming Youth leader and my church. I really want to help lead young teens in the right direction and keep them off the streets. For they are the future.

If I have free time you can find me at a park playing basketball. I love the commetive nature, the work out, and the intaction with others. Playing basketball makes me forgot about "the real world".
